Common questions
PLT eligibility questions
These answers explain how to use the checker and what to do if your situation is not straightforward.
Can this checker confirm my formal PLT eligibility?
No. The checker gives general pathway guidance. IOLT may need to review your academic documents, admission pathway and workplace experience details before confirming your enrolment position.
Can I start PLT before graduating?
Some students who are very close to completing their law degree may be able to consider early commencement, but this depends on the relevant rules and any required approval. If you still have subjects remaining, check first.
Does IOLT PLT include workplace experience?
Yes. IOLT PLT includes 20 days of supervised workplace experience. You can self-arrange workplace experience, use suitable current or prior legal work if approved, or ask IOLT about placement support.
Do overseas qualifications need to be assessed before PLT?
Usually, yes. If you are relying on overseas legal study, you should have your qualification assessed or have clear top-up directions before treating PLT as the final step toward admission.
Can my current job count for workplace experience?
It may count if the work involves supervised legal tasks and a suitable supervisor can verify your experience. Legal-adjacent work, purely administrative work or unsupervised work should be checked before relying on it.
